For verbal reasoning, however, introverts and extraverts were not affected differently by listening to music while performing the task.
One explanation for this finding is that the abstract reasoning task is more complex than the verbal reasoning task. Thus, task complexity seems to play a moderating role when deciding whether to listen to music while studying.
Volume control. Make sure that your background music is, indeed, in the background and is not distracting you or any of the students around you.
